A Message from Kelly

Welcome to The Copywriting Connection! This week we are taking a look at how business/marketing coaching and copywriting complement each other and suggest a few ways to incorporate coaching into your copywriting business. The growing field of coaching is particularly easy to "add-on" to many businesses, it seems to suit copywriting particularly well. I added coaching to my copywriting business a few years ago and have literally added tens of thousands of dollars to my bottom line. Entrepreneurs and marketers are in dire need of marketing assistance and guidance. If you are comfortable talking with people and better yet like to teach, coaching may be the next frontier for you to conquer.

For those of you in the Denver area, my good friend Terri Levine, founder of The Coach Institute, is having a full-day coach training session at the Doubletree Hotel in Westminster. You can learn more here http://www.coachinstitute.com/certificationtrainingco.html

Happy Copywriting!

How adding coaching to your copywriting business can add thousands of dollars to your income

Copywriters – you know that writing copy, helping other business sell their services, and helping them to educate their clients, is a fun and profitable way to make a living. Each new project is a different opportunity for us to stretch ourselves. A new opportunity for us to grow as individuals.

You know as well as anyone that copywriting is a skill – connecting with people through the written word is a unique talent most people don't posses skill, especially in a sales setting.

In addition to writing copy, coaching your clients on marketing and other ways to grow their business is a great way to complement your sales and marketing skills, AND earn additional income. Adding sales and marketing coaching to your portfolio of services is a great way to further help your clients and stretch yourself in yet another way.

How easy is it to offer coaching to your clients?

It’s easy! As you meet with and interview your current clients during copywriting projects, look for other ways you can help them. It may be in the form of a brainstorming session, help with a marketing plan or other future planning.

Another idea that works well is to package the coaching services with your copywriting pricing. You may even offer two different pricing options, one with coaching and one without.

However, not everyone has the skill set to coach. Coaching involves patience, creativity, and objectivity.

Not sure if you have the skills necessary to be a coach?

Invest in coach training or hire a coach for yourself and see how it works. Coaching is one of the fastest growing professions in the US for a reason – it works! Check out our coaching for copywriters at www.thecopywritinginstitute.com/writingcoaching.html
