A Message from KellyWelcome to The Copywriting Connection! I'm putting together a program for copywriters and marketers to get planning for 2008. With that I've done some reflection on The Copywriting Institute itself. What role does The Institute play in the big scheme of things, where it's going in 2008, and the best ways for me to help you be better writers. I invite you to read my reflections and see our vision for 2008 on our blog www.thecopywritinginstitute.com/blog. This week I am also going to ask you – what is the best way we can help you in 2008? What are you looking for from us? Drop me an email and let me know info@TheCopywritingInstitute.com. With that said, we have a great article this week on improving your self-esteem. Happy Copywriting! Kelly
Don't let low self-esteem stop youLow self-esteem is something we all face at one point or another in our lives. Some battle with lack of confidence on occasion, others all the time. We've all experienced copywriting projects where we've wondered if we had what it takes to do a good job (I know I have anyway). Self-confidence is not a matter of knowing you can do everything perfectly and that you are a super star. To me, self-confidence is having the strength to honestly say to yourself, "I'm willing to try and give it 100% that I have to offer. Which is a damn lot!" It may not be perfect, but that's ok. I'll learn from the experience if nothing else. YOU have all of the control over your self-esteem. By controlling your thoughts and the discussion that goes on inside your head, you have the ability to improve not only your outlook on life, but your confidence in yourself and your ability to handle what life throws your way. Here are five things YOU can do to improve your self-esteem:
Low self-esteem can be especially common with writers. Writing can be very subjective and personal. It's easy to take feedback negatively and personally. Don't let negative thoughts control you and your future. You are meant for greatness – go get it! © The Copywriting Connection. All Rights Reserved. Copywriters ChallengeDo you feel confidence in yourself or low self-esteem? Look at the five steps in today's article. Are there steps you can take to improve yours? Word of the WeekThis week's word of the week is chicanery [shi-key-nuh-ree, chi-]. Chicanery means the use of tricks and lies to deceive someone (usually to extract money from them). An example of a sentence where it is used is:
He used chicanery to get his friends to help him pay for a new TV.
